For all of you that have not heard, Ian and Kaylene have a new baby boy. Foster Leland Cornelius, born on October 20. Other than a fight with jaundice, Foster is a healthy little guy.
I was in Corvallis last week while concrete was being poured at the farm to enlarge the brooder shed. Kevin also removed the old wooden floor from the stone house and Warren Adair helped Kevin place concrete for a new floor.
Do you recall me writing about my difficulties with a couple of military officers that worked in my office at the public works department at the air station, Lt. Commander Killean and Lieutenant King? I was at the naval air station recently and spoke with the former Commander of the Public Works Department, Mike O’Donnell. In my conversation with Mike he mentioned that Lt. Commander Killean didn’t make grade, meaning he was not promoted and he will have to leave military service. Mike also said that Lieutenant King will be leaving the military. Apparently Killean and King are not a good match for military service. Maybe my complaint to the military brass, prior to my departure, had something to do with their exit.
It’s the mating season and the deer in the neighborhood are in rut. This means a lot of high testosterone bucks want to be top dog, like the two boys scrapping it out in the lot next to our home. The older buck on the left won the duel and I sure he’ll be happy when the breeding season is over, as the rut can take a physical toll on these guys.
I’ve been focusing much of my time on getting our property, next to the City of Adair Village, annexed into the City and then getting a housing development approved. It’s a long process with lots of meetings with city, county, and state officials, and lots of paperwork and approvals. Actual construction will likely not begin until sometime in 2018.
Lisa and I are driving to Corvallis on Friday. In 1973-74 I was a member of the Oregon State University cheerleading squad. We are having a reunion, our first in 42 years. It’s homecoming weekend at OSU so there is lots to do and see. We will be attending the football game on Saturday night (burr).
